The Institute is indeed heading in another direction. And our claim that Consulting is Dead is not entirely tongue in cheek. Many years ago we predicted that the traditional partnership structure in the consulting industry was not sustainable. Acquisitions and spin-offs have already occurred and the economic models of consulting have changed. We anticipated that change and developed what you might call The Art of the Consultation.

At The Institute we have developed a hybrid approach on consulting approaches. We call it the Consultation, but it might better be named an Indaba. When the Zulus came to choose a word for business, they chose the word Indaba. They equated the world of business with their tradition of Indabas.

An Institute Consultation is a unique experience that gets to the very alchemy of the advisor / client relationship. We have learned the Art and the Science of the Consultation. It is something old, and something new. Something leading edge, and something classic.

 

What are some of the things we do to make Consultations successful?

 

· We built a workbench that takes life size problems and turns them into bite-size solutions, quickly.

· We developed intellectual frameworks that radically shorten strategizing.

· We codified tools that quickly surface issues.

· At the Integration end, we have inculcated ourselves with disciplines and measures -- and tools and software -- that ensure continual alignment of all key aspects of corporations.

· We have gone even further and roughed out business processes – such as product development, partnering, and sales processes - that can be dropped into emerging companies at speed.
